Importing Course Material to your Nectir AI Assistant

If you have not enabled Nectir AI and created your assistant, you will want to follow the instructions on [Enabling Nectir AI & Creating Your AI Assistant](https://scribehow.com/viewer/Enabling_Nectir_AI_and_Creating_Your_Course_AI_Assistant__4ELmkMBnT4ayZMrxEXwIpg?referrer=workspace) before following the steps on this guide.

Navigate to your course in [Canvas](https://smccd.instructure.com/)

From the course navigation menu "**Nectir AI - Key"**

Select the **Settings** icon in the top right corner.

From the left side menu, select "**Knowledge**"

Select "Import from LMS"

You will need to export your Canvas course to retrieve the .imscc file Nectir AI needs. For step-by-step instructions, visit the [How To Export a Course in Canvas](https://scribehow.com/viewer/How_To_Export_a_Course_from_Canvas__HUej13v7R26D0OK2ZT_c1A) support article.

Select "Upload course file"

The file you are looking for will have the course name in the file name and the file type is .imscc

After Nectir extracts the material from the **.imscc** file, use the arrows to expand specific types of material. Check the boxes next to the material that you want the AI Assistant to use. Uncheck any boxes that you do not want the assistant to use.

After you finish reviewing what material the AI will use, select "**Import selected**"

You can now leave the page. Nectir will begin importing the selected materials to the AI Assistant. After the assistant has finished, you can always add new content or disable imported content later.
