Importing Field Layout Files to Field Book

This guide provides a step-by-step approach to efficiently import field layout files into Field Book.

This SOP assumes you have already created the field layout file and you have uploaded it to the folder you will be importing from.

Open the Field Book app on your device.

On the Home Screen, tap [[Fields]]

In the bottom right of the Fields screen, tap [[+]]

Tap the either [[Local Storage]] (the field layout file is already on your device) or [[Cloud storage]] (the file is located in a Cloud Storage service that is linked to the device).

Navigate to the folder containing your field layout file. Tap the file you want to import.

You will need to select the column in your file to use as your unique identifier in Field Book. Your unique identifier must be unique for every row in your file AND globally unique in Field Book (other fields do not have the same identifier).

You will be sent back to the Field Book app. On this screen, tap the dropdown to select which column in your file you want to use as your unique identifier.

Tap on the column name. We are selecting "plot_name".

Tap [[Import]]

You will see a status message appear.

One the import is complete, you will see your field in the Fields window. Tap the field to see additional information.

Your field's page will display various information on your field, including: field metadata, collection activity, export activity, and data summary statistics. See[here](https://fieldbook.phenoapps.org/#/fields) for additional information.
