Improving Your Cover Letter Using AI Tools

To review your Cover Letter and optimise it, click on 'Cover Letter Review'.

First, paste the relevant Job Description into the box.

Then, click 'Next'.

Click here to upload your cover letter. Remember that it must be a PDF. The software will then carry out its analysis.

On the left hand side, you will find your Overall Score. Below this you will see a range of metrics and how well you have done.

You can scroll through each metric and read the advice provided - for example, here the candidate did not include their email address, and are being advised to add it into the Cover Letter.

The software will also highlight possible spelling errors which you can review.

Click here to move on to your Cover Letter Relevancy.

You can then review any missing keywords. The keywords themselves are highlighted in green.

Click 'Found Keywords' to review keywords from the Job Description that you have successfully included in your cover letter.

Click 'Word Cloud' to view a visual representation of the Job Description's keywords.

The larger the word, the more important it is to the employer.

To view the softskills and buzzwords section, click the handshake icon on the left.

You can then review the soft skills which are included in the Job Description. The panel below will contain a count for each word and how often you make use of them.

You can make use of CareerSet's AI software to rewrite your Cover Letter. Click on the lightning bolt icon on the left.

Click "I allow my data to be processed by our AI writing tool (powered by OpenAI)." Using OpenAI's ChatGPT function through CareerSet is much more private than if you use it directly. Your data is not linked to an individual account, and is instead sent to ChatGPT from a general CareerSet account.

Click "'Generate Improved Version'.

Please remember you are limited to 10 cover letter rewrites per day.

Your improved cover letter will then be available to review.

Click 'Copy Improved Version' to download a copy of the new version.

CareerSet's AI can also be used for Grammar & Style suggestions on your **original** cover letter. To use this tool, click the A to Z icon on the left.

Click 'I allow my data to be processed by our AI writing tool (powered by OpenAI'.

Click 'Analyse for Grammar & Style Issues'. The software will then review your Cover Letter.

You will then be able to scroll through a list of suggestions.

Some suggestions will be listed in red as 'High Priority' as they require attention.

Other issues are listed as 'Medium Priority' in yellow.

And finally, some are listed as 'Low Priority' issues in Green.
