Instructors: How to Grade and Comment on a Turnitin Peermark Assignment

This guide provides a step-by-step process for effectively grading and commenting on peer reviews completed by students in a PeerMark Assignment.

Navigate to a Turnitin Assignment with PeerMark Enabled - This step should be completed after students have begun reviewing each other's papers on the "Students can review from" date.

Click the "Peermark" tab.

Click "PeerMark Reviews" from the drop down menu.

You will see a report of how many reviews each student has already submitted and how many they've received. You can click submitted or received reviews to check how students are doing with their peer review work. You can write your own instructor review under the "Review" column.

Select a link under the "Received" column.

When you open a student review or received review, click under the "Review" column to access the review. The Percent Complete demonstrates that the reviewer answered all questions required by the instructor. Click on the Reviews tab to return to the list of all students.

Click a link for a student under the "Review" column to start an instructor review for that student.

The PeerMark window that opens is the same view students have when they are completing a Peer Review. Click "Comments"

Highlight text to make in-text comments. Then click on the right sidebar column to view all of the comments made on the assignment.

Click the "Questions" tab to answer the review questions set up for the assignment.

Click the "Submit" button after answering all questions and entering comments. In the pop up box choose "Return to Assignment Inbox."

Continue reviewing students' reviews of each other and adding your own reviews/feedback for students. NOTE: The grade will never populate for students. If you want to give students points, a grade, etc. for their review work, you must create a manual grade item in Moodle.
