Landing Page & Group Widgets Overview

This guide is essential for anyone looking to effectively manage and customize landing pages and Group widgets within a platform. It provides detailed information on the different types of blocks and widgets available, as well as the necessary permissions required for editing. Advanced permissions are required to be able to manage widgets on landing pages and within groups.

Each block or widget allows for specific tool functionality and/ or content to be added to the landing page or group. **\*Note:** You need Site Moderator or Group Moderator permissions to edit Blocks and Widgets **Group Moderator** - With Group Moderator permissions, you will see the tool option of ***manage widgets*** display within the gears icon on the group toolbar - A user is given group moderator to specific groups **Site Moderator** - With Site Moderator permissions, you can manage the widgets on all landing pages (except Profile) and groups - User first enables Moderator Mode - On Landing pages, the pencil icon will display on the page toolbar. Clicking will open the landing page into edit mode - On Groups, manage widgets will be displayed in the gears icon in the group toolbar Once the page or group is in edit mode by clicking the pencil icon, you can select an existing block to customize or add a new one.

Widgets Overview

**The Widgets Available in the Group Block Category are those used within a Group (not on a landing page)** - **About**: Block where information about the group is provided - **Join/Leave Buttons:** Block that allows users to join/leave, or follow/unfollow group. - Note: if a group is set to request to join, button updates automatically - **Group Discussion:** add a discussion block to a group - **Group Members:** Displays all group leaders and members

**The widgets Content and Social category are those that are used in EITHER a Landing Page OR Group.** **[[Content]]** - **Button**: add a button. A url can be added to a button as applicable. - **Discussion:** add a discussion board - Note: this typically utilized in a Group - **Text/WYSIWYG:** add text, image or video - **Create and Share:** add ability for users to add an object to the platform (resource, collection, lesson, project, pathway or group) - **Hero:** add a hero banner across the top of the page or group - **Things:** display objects within the platform on pages or groups. - \*objects can be auto-fed/update based on criteria selected in block - **Custom Menu:** add a custom menu to a page or group - **News and Events:** add a News & Events block to a page or group [[Social]] - **Online Users**: displays users currently active in the platform. If added to a group, displays group members who are active in the platform. - **Social Media Links:** allows social media links to be added to a page or group - **Twitter Feed:** displays twitter feed. - Note: since twitter became X, this works intermittently
