Log In and Navigate the Try Demo Environment

This guide shows how to log in to QxControl and explore the Try Demo Environment, giving you a quick way to experience system features.

Navigate to [https://try.qumulex.io/auth/login](https://try.qumulex.io/auth/login)

Click **Next**, then enter your **password** when prompted.

💡 **Tip:** After logging in, always check your **current scope**. QxControl remembers where you left off in your last session, and that scope will still be selected.

Click **Visionaire Security, LLC** (or **i-PRO** for demo users).\ \ This sets the scope to the top level, displaying all cameras and devices for that site and everything beneath it.

You can also change the **scope** to a site below the top level to view specific devices.\ **Example:** If your current scope is **Visionaire Security, LLC**, click **i-PRO** to see only i-PRO cameras.\ \ The scope is limited to the selected site, and only devices belonging to that scope are displayed.

Narrow the scope to **i-PRO** cameras, then click **Update Scope**.\ \ The system refreshes to show only the devices within the i-PRO scope.

To change the scope to a different brand or site, click the **scope selector** in the upper-right corner (currently set to **i-PRO**).\ \ The scope menu opens, allowing you to select another site or brand.

Click **Hanwha Site**.\ \ The scope changes to the Hanwha site, and only cameras and devices for that site are displayed.

Click **Update Scope**.\ \ The scope selection is applied, and the dashboard refreshes to show devices only within the chosen site.

To return from a specific site to a higher-level scope, click the **Places** button in the upper-right corner again.\ \ You can reselect a broader scope (e.g., the top-level site) to view all devices under it.

Click **Visionaire Security, LLC**.\ \ The scope returns to the top level, displaying all cameras and devices for Visionaire Security and its sub-sites.

Click **Update Scope**.\ \ The system refreshes, and your scope is now set to **Visionaire Security, LLC**, showing all cameras and devices under this top-level site.

From the **Live View** page, click the **Grid icon** located in the upper-right corner, just below the **Scope Selection** button.\ \ The grid layout options open, allowing you to change how and what camera streams are displayed.

Click **Layouts**.\ \ The **Layouts** menu opens, allowing you to choose or manage grid layouts for your camera views.

From the **Layouts** scroll bar, select the **3×3** option.\ \ **Example:** This changes the view from 4 cameras to 9 cameras at once.

Click **Widgets**.\ \ The **Widgets panel** opens, allowing you to select camera streams to place into the Live View grid.

Drag and drop cameras from the **widget list** into an available black cell, or drop them over an existing camera stream to update the layout.\ \ The selected camera feed is displayed in the chosen cell, replacing any previous stream if applicable.

Alternatively, click the **Cycle Cameras** button to rotate camera feeds through the current layout.\ \ The selected layout automatically cycles through available cameras without manual drag-and-drop.

From the **Widgets List**, the **Golden Eye icon** indicates which cameras are currently selected. - The first click of **Cycle Cameras** starts with the **top camera** in the list. - Each subsequent click advances the **entire layout** to the next set of cameras in sequence. - When the end of the list is reached, the cycle **restarts at the top**. The full layout cycles through all selected cameras in order.

Click **Views** to recall a saved view with a preconfigured layout and camera assignments.\ \ The selected view loads, restoring the layout and streams exactly as it was saved.

Click here.

Click on one of the **saved views** to load the selected layout.\ \ The chosen layout and its associated camera streams are displayed.

**Live View – Integrated Door Widget**\ In Live View, the bar above this video cell is the **Integrated Door Widget**. - **Status icons** appear on the left, showing the real-time state of the door. - The **lock icon** provides live door control, allowing you to lock or unlock directly from the video cell. This widget lets you both **monitor** and **control doors** without leaving the Live View screen.

Click the **lock icon** in the Integrated Door Widget to remotely issue an **Unlock** command.\ \ The door unlocks, and the status icons update in real time to reflect the new state.

Click the **three-dot icon** in the Integrated Door Widget.\ \ The **Door Overrides** menu opens, allowing you to apply manual overrides (e.g., unlock, lock, or hold open).

From the **Door Overrides** menu, you can apply overrides such as: - **Door Lockdown** - **Remove Schedule** and apply a manual override The selected override takes effect immediately, bypassing the door’s normal schedule or state.

Click **Timeline** from the left navigation menu.\ \ The **Timeline** view opens, displaying recorded video events in chronological order.

Click **Select Camera**.\ \ A list of available cameras appears for you to choose from.

From the scrolling popup, select the **camera** you want to review.\ \ The camera’s recorded video is loaded into the Timeline view.

Click on the **timeline bar** at the point where you want playback to begin.\ \ Video playback starts from the selected time.

Click the **Play** button to start playback.\ \ Recorded video begins playing from the selected point on the timeline.

Click **Search** from the left navigation menu.\ \ The **Search** page opens, allowing you to run queries against recorded video and events.

Use the filtering tools within the **Search** page to narrow results. - **Scope:** Limit the search to a specific **site**. - **Device filters:** Choose individual cameras or devices. - **Event types:** Enable filters (e.g., motion, access granted, analytics) to refine results further. The search returns only the events that match your selected site, devices, and event types, making it easier to find the exact activity you are looking for.

In this search, the scope is expanded to include **all Visionaire Security sites**.\ \ Events and recordings from every site under Visionaire Security are included in the search results.

After filtering results, click on a **result card**.\ \ The playback controls open, allowing you to view the recorded video associated with that event.

Use the familiar **Play / Pause controls** within the search playback window.\ \ Playback control works the same way as in the **Timeline** view, letting you pause, resume, or navigate through the recorded video.

Click on the **Analytics Search** tab to access advanced analytic controls.\ \ The analytics search panel opens, allowing you to filter results by attributes such as people, vehicles, or other metadata.

Use the **timeline controls** at the top of the menu to set a custom time range. - For the most recent events, click the **Now** button at the top of the screen. The search window adjusts to the selected time range, displaying only events that occurred during that period.

Click the **arrow** next to the **Human Attribute** filter to expand the options menu.\ \ A list of people-related attributes (e.g., clothing, gender) is displayed for filtering search results.

Choose from the available filtering options to narrow the search by specific **attributes**.\ \ Only events matching the selected attributes (e.g., clothing color, gender, or other people-based traits) are displayed in the results.

Use the **Likelihood Slider** available in each event category to adjust accuracy for the selected attributes.\ \ Raising the likelihood threshold filters out weaker matches, ensuring results more closely match the chosen attributes.

Click the **Range** field.\ \ The range selector opens, allowing you to define the attribute confidence range for your search.

In this guide, the likelihood range is set to **80%**.\ \ Only events with at least an 80% confidence match for the selected attribute are shown in the results.

Click **Search**.\ \ The system applies your selected filters and displays matching events.

Review the **posted results** displayed after the search.\ \ Events matching your selected attributes and filters appear as cards, ready for playback or further review.

Select an **event card** from the results to review its video.\ \ The playback window opens, allowing you to watch the recorded video for the selected event.

Click **Play** from the **timeline controls** to review the video associated with the event.\ \ Playback begins at the event timestamp, showing the recorded activity.

Review the playback to confirm the detected attribute.\ \ **Example:** In this case, the system highlights a **blue top** with its associated **likelihood percentage** as perceived by the camera.\ \ You can validate that the attribute filter correctly identified the event.

Click **Permissions** from the left navigation menu.\ \ The **Permissions** page opens, where you can view and manage card holder access rights.

Select the **Customer Support** permission to review its configuration.\ \ The details of the Customer Support permission open, showing the schedule, people currently subscribed to the permission and permitted doors.

Review the **schedule** assigned to the selected permission.\ \ The schedule defines when the associated users have access rights (e.g., business hours, 24/7, or custom timeframes).

Review the **doors** associated with the selected permission.\ \ These doors define where users assigned to this permission can gain access during the scheduled times.

Click **Groups** from the left navigation menu.\ \ The **Groups** page opens, showing all defined Access Groups in the system.

Click **Customer Support** to open that group.\ \ The group details page opens, showing the permissions assigned to the **Customer Support** group.

Scroll down to view the **permissions** associated with the selected group.\ \ The list of permissions applied to the group is displayed, showing which doors, schedules, and Places the group members can access.

Scroll down to view the **personnel** assigned to this group.\ \ A list of all users in the group is displayed, showing who inherits the group’s permissions and schedules.

Click **Roles** from the left navigation menu.\ \ **Roles** represent individuals who have login access to **QxControl** through a web browser. Assigning a role determines what system functions a user can perform (e.g., view live video, search events, manage devices, or administer settings).

Click **Live and Search** to open that role.\ \ The role details page appears, showing the permissions and capabilities available to users assigned this role.

Examine the selected **Role** to review the allowed actions.\ \ The role details show exactly what the operator can do in QxControl, including actions for: - **Cameras** (view, search, export) - **Doors** (lock, unlock, override) - **Lockdown** (initiate or clear) - **Events** (search, review) - **Views** (create, save, recall)

Return to the main **Roles** page to begin creating a custom role.

Click **Create Role**.\ \ The role creation form opens, allowing you to define a new custom role.

Configure the **custom role** by checking the boxes for the desired permissions.\ \ The role will include only the permissions you select. **Note:** If a permission has prerequisites, QxControl will automatically select them to ensure proper functionality.

Navigate to **Gateways** to see how new devices can be quickly commissioned in QxControl.\ \ The **Gateways** page opens, where you can add and configure supported devices. > 💡 **Tip:** Commissioning devices through **Gateways** ensures they are discovered, named, and configured consistently, reducing setup errors and saving time.

Click on the gateway **QxStation 500 Series**.\ \ The gateway details page opens, showing device options and configuration settings.

From the **Gateway** page, click the **Actions** menu to display discovery options.\ \ A list of available discovery tools (e.g., camera or controller scans) appears for adding new devices.

Select **Rosslare Scan** from the Actions menu to discover **Rosslare 825 IP Controllers**.

Select **Mercury Scan** from the Actions menu to discover **LP and MP controllers**.\ \ The system scans the network and lists any Mercury LP/MP controllers it detects.

Click **ONVIF Scan** to discover **cameras, video intercoms, and Axis Communications door controllers**.\ \ The system scans the network and lists all ONVIF-compatible devices it detects.

After the discovery completes, the detected devices are listed.\ \ **Tip:** On larger networks, use the **column sorting controls** to organize and review the results.\ \ Once devices are identified, commissioning steps can begin.

Let’s quickly review how **Schedules** are implemented in QxControl.\ \ Schedules can be applied to both **camera recording** and **access control** (doors and credentials), ensuring consistent behavior across the system.

Click **Visionaire Security, LLC** to open and review the layout for this schedule.\ \ The schedule details are displayed, showing how recording and access control times are defined for this site. > 💡 **Tip:** Site-level schedules can be applied to multiple devices and doors beneath the site, ensuring consistent behavior across the entire hierarchy.

Review the **Holiday Sets**.\ \ When a Holiday Set is assigned to a schedule, any updates you make in the calendar interface automatically **trickle down** and are immediately applied to all schedules using that set. > 💡 **Tip:** The **calendar interface** makes it simple to add, remove, or adjust holidays, ensuring access rules and recording schedules stay accurate without needing to edit each schedule individually.

Open the **Company Holiday Set 2023-** to review its configuration.\ \ The calendar view displays all company-defined holidays that will automatically apply to associated schedules. > 💡 **Tip:** Centralizing holidays in a single set ensures consistent access control and recording behavior across the entire organization.

From the **Calendar View**, click the **Edit** button at the top of the screen.\ \ **Action:** Select a day on the calendar to add it as a holiday.\ \ **Result:** The selected day appears in the list view on the right. When that date arrives, the assigned schedule overrides automatically take effect.

Let’s examine a **Rule example**.\ \ Rules define how QxControl responds to specific events (e.g., access granted, motion detected) by triggering actions such as unlocking a door, starting a recording, or sending an alert. > 💡 **Tip:** Rules combine **Events** (the “AND”) with **Actions** (the “OR”), making them a powerful way to automate responses in your system.

Click **Camera Disconnect Alert** to open the rule.\ \ The rule details page opens, showing the event conditions and actions defined for this alert.

Review the **schedule** assigned to the rule.\ \ The schedule shows the days and times the rule is actively monitoring.\ \ **Example:** In this case, the rule is set to run **24/7**, ensuring continuous monitoring. > 💡 **Tip:** Use customized schedules (e.g., *Business Hours*) if the rule only needs to apply during certain times.

Review the **Event** section of the rule.\ **Example:** The trigger is defined as: **(Event Type = Device Connection) AND (Status = Disconnected)** The rule activates when a device loses connection, ensuring alerts are generated for camera/controller disconnections.

Review the **Suppression Guard** settings.\ \ Suppression guards help prevent false alerts by adding a delay before the rule action is triggered. **Example:** In this case, the device must be offline for at least **60 seconds** before the rule proceeds to the **Action** phase. > 💡 **Tip:** Adjust suppression time based on network stability—shorter delays for highly reliable networks, longer delays for environments with frequent momentary disconnects.

Review the **Action** phase of the rule.\ \ When the rule is triggered, a **notification email** is sent. - **Recipients:** Users can specify who receives the email. - **Message:** Customize the content of the notification. - **Rate Limit Override:** Found at the bottom of the email settings, this controls how often the email is sent when the rule conditions are repeatedly met. > 💡 **Tip:** Use rate limits to avoid inbox flooding in unstable network conditions.

In the bottom-left corner of QxControl, click the **User** section.\ \ The user menu opens, providing access to account settings and system resources. > 💡 **Tip:** Qumulex is a constantly evolving product.
