Moodle Quiz | Part 1: Create a Quiz Question

This guide provides a step-by-step approach to creating quiz questions in Moodle, specifically focusing on multiple-choice questions. Navigate to your Moodle course

Click "More"

Click "Question bank"

Creating a Question

Click "Create a new question ..."

Choose a question type from the list. We will use "Multiple choice" as an example.

Click "Multiple choice" to select it

Click "Add" to set up a question

You will fill a few pieces of key information. The first being the question name. It is for internal purposes only and your students won't see it. It's helpful to put something in there to help you identify what kind of question it is. For now, we'll just call it Q1.

In the "Question text" section, put the actual question you want to ask your students.

Adding Answers

Scroll down to the "Answers" section and start adding the different choices that your students can select. The answers are composed of three components: 1. the "Choice" field, which is what your student can actually select; 2. the "Grade" field where you identify whether or not the question itself is correct; 3. the "Feedback" field, where specific feedback for that particular choice can be provided.

Let's go ahead and fill in our choices.

Click the "Grade" drop down click the grade drop down menu and if this is the right answer, select "100%." Leave all other answers as "None."

When done, click "Save changes"

Previewing a Question

You'll be brought back to the question bank.

To preview the question and answers, click "Edit"

Choose "Preview" from the dropdown menu

This is what your students will see. You can try for yourself or click the "Filling correct responses" just to make sure the answers have been inputed correctly.

When done, click "Close preview" to go back to the question bank.

You can click "Create a new question ..." to create more questions for your question bank.
