Moodle Quiz | Part 2: Create/Set a Quiz Shell

The second step to create a Moodle quiz is to set up a quiz shell on the course page.

On the Moodle course page, you will need to create a quiz activity. Enable the **Edit mode** at the top-right corner

Navigate to the module where you want your quiz to be placed.

Click **Add an activity or resource**

Click the **Activities** tab

Select the **Quiz** activity

Provide a **Name** for the quiz

Write any **Description** or instructions that may be important for students to know

Open the **Timing** options

Identify the **Timing** of when the quiz should open and close, as well as how long their attempt should take

You can also configure what **Grade category** it is part of within your gradebook.

As well as adjust how many attempts students are allowed to take.

You might wish to shuffle within the questions, meaning that the choices for multiple choice questions would be shuffled each time the student makes an attempt.

You might also wish to have students submit each question as they go along to get immediate feedback. To do this, you would change deferred feedback to **immediate feedback**,

You might also consider giving students additional attempts within the question.

Open the **Review options** settings and check off when specific information should become available to students.

The **Review options** are broken down into four columns: during the attempt, immediately after the attempt, later while the quiz is still open, and after the quiz is closed. You can use this matrix to customize what information students see during the various stages of taking a quiz.

When done, click **Save and display**.

You'll be taken to the quiz landing page and see a summary of the quiz parameters you've just set up.
