Ongoing Campaigns: New Customers Example

This guide provides a step-by-step process for creating and managing ongoing campaigns specifically targeting new customers. It simplifies the campaign setup, ensuring users can effectively engage with their audience through tailored messaging. Please note that SEND will only be available for accounts on the **Ultimate** or above subscriptions. Ongoing campaigns are intended for campaigns that need to be republished, depending on changes to the audience.

Creating the Audience

You will first need to create an audience. To do this, head to SEND > Audiences > Create Audience.

Choose your name for the audience and add a description for it if needed.

Then, choose your audience filters. For something like a welcome/onboarding message for new customers, you will likely want to filter for the below: 'State is active'. Remember to click 'Save Filter' afterwards.

Ongoing campaigns will work with any filter, so it doesn't just have to be for new active customers.

If this is all you want to filter for, you can click 'SAVE'.

Creating the Ongoing Campaign

You can then head to 'Campaigns' to begin creating your campaign. From here, click 'Create Campaign'.

You will need to name your campaign, and can also add a description if needed.

Remember to choose an audience using this drop down menu. Here, I am selecting the audience we just created.

Choose your delivery method. This can be SMS, Email or both.

Here, you can select the 'Ongoing' box.

Finally, select your desired template. You will also be able to select and add attachments here just below if needed. Remember to click 'Save' on the campaign.

Publishing the Ongoing Campaign

Once the campaign has been created, you will see all qualifying customers, and can select any that you want to exclude from the campaign. If this is for a welcome/onboarding campaign, you may want to exclude all customers the first time.

Finally, click 'Publish'.

You will be asked to confirm this action, as below. If your customers have opted out of marketing and are included in the campaign, you may also be asked to confirm this again.

Updating the Audience

To show how ongoing campaigns work in this example, I will just create a new active customer, so that we have a new qualifying customer in the audience.

You can then head back into SEND > Audiences and click into this particular audience.

Once in the audience, use the top right three dots to 'Edit'.

When in the edit section, you will see that the audience number has changed. You can just click 'Save' again here.

The above step has been updated in the next Squeegee release, so that you no longer need to edit the audience to update it - this should just update automatically when you go back into the ongoing campaign. Currently, though, you will need to edit and resave the audience.

Republishing the Campaign to New Qualifying Customers

Click back into the campaign.

You will see that any new qualifying customers will show up in the same place as before. Again, you will have the option to exclude any customers you don't want to be included in the campaign.

Finally, click 'Send' again, and confirm the publication via the prompt.
