Paysafe Merchant Account Application

How to set up a Paysafe merchant account for your organization — from launching the application inside Uplifter through all five sections of Paysafe's form, plus the documents to gather first and what happens after you submit.

Welcome! This walkthrough shows you how to set up a Paysafe merchant account that's automatically linked to your organization's financial account in Uplifter. The application has five sections: 1. Business Information, 2. Account Information, 3. Ownership Information, 4. Banking Information, and a 5. Final Review. It takes most users twenty to thirty minutes to submit an application. Let's begin!

Please note, that applicants must be an authorized representative of your organization and your business name and your bank account name must match precisely. Based on your organization type, the online application process may require you to upload specific documents. Other documents may be required during Paysafe's follow-up via email. What is a **merchant account**? A merchant account is what lets your organization collect registration and membership fees online. It's the account Paysafe uses to move money from your customers into your bank account. You create it through a Paysafe application, launched from your Uplifter Admin Dashboard.

**There are three ways in**, and the right one depends on where you're starting. If you're already working with an Uplifter Onboarding Specialist, **stop here**. They'll create your financial account and send you a unique application link — which keeps you from accidentally creating a duplicate.

If your **financial account already exists** and you just need the merchant account, take this route instead. From the **Admin Dashboard**, open the **Financials** menu, choose the **Account Details** tab, and click **Sign up for a new Paysafe account**. Starting here is what links your Paysafe application to the right financial account in Uplifter — so don't go to Paysafe's website directly.

If you are returning client but prefer to create a new financial organization and either connect it to your existing Paysafe account or apply to Paysafe for the first time, take this third path. Open your **Admin Dashboard**, go to the **Events** menu, and click **Create Event** to open the wizard. Then choose **Create a New Organization**. Choose **one of these three** **ways** to access your unique Paysafe application page linked to your Uplifter Financial Organization. If you need help deciding the best course of action for your needs, please email[[support@uplifterinc.com]]. Now we'll begin the Paysafe application walkthrough.

You'll land on your Paysafe login. First-time users complete every field, read and check the three boxes, then click **Register**. If you've been here before, click **Login**.

**Two things to get right** 1. Include your **organization name** in the username so it’s easy to identify later. 2. And use an email address that is associated with your organization and is checked regularly. Save your passcode securly. *Usernames should be 2 to 64 characters, all lowercase, and may include letters and numbers, periods, commas, hyphens, underscores or parentheses.* *Passwords should be at least 8 characters with an uppercase letter, a lowercase letter, a number, and a special character.*

Section one is **Business Information**. Enter your business legal name **precisely.** This has to match your organization's name on your legal documents and your bank statements — every later step depends on it. Then click **Search**. If the automated lookup finds your organization, select it.

If the search doesn't find you, that's okay. Instead, choose '**I don't see my business listed — add business details**,' and click **Continue** to enter your details manually.

Review the fields Paysafe has filled in for you. To change anything, use **Search Again**, or **Go A Step Back** to return to the previous page.

If your organization doesn't have a business or tax ID number, you can use your: - provincial business number, - your society number, or - your affiliation application number — the one tied to a letter of good standing from your governing sports organization. The field requires nine digits, so add or remove leading zeros as needed.

You may be asked to upload a document here — your articles of incorporation, for example. Click **Upload**, choose your file, and a green checkmark confirms it's accepted.

Now work through the rest of section one. For your **business address**, include your organization's customer service phone number. If you operate under a different address, switch on the **Doing Business As** option. Use a street address — PO boxes aren't accepted.

If your organization has a **website**, switch this on and add the address, a short description, and your business category. This helps Paysafe verify you, so fill it in if you can.

**Additional Business Information** also supports verification. You'll need your base currency, your average transaction amount, your annual processing amount, your largest transaction amount, and your average refund days. Estimates are fine.

Last in this section is your **statement descriptor** — the name your customers see on their credit card statement. Make it recognizable. A parent who doesn't recognize the name on their statement is one of the most common causes of chargebacks, so use something they'll associate with your club. Click the **Edit** icon to change it, and keep it short. That completes section one. Four to go.

Section two is **Account Information**, and it has two parts: your payment methods, and your contacts. Select at least one payment method — credit and debit cards, for most organizations. Then set your settlement currency and your processing currency. If you take more than one currency, you'll need a bank account that matches each. And if you want to accept Visa and Mastercard debit, tick that box — debit fees follow the same structure as Visa and Mastercard credit.

Now your contacts. A primary contact is required — this is Paysafe's main point of contact for your account, so please **use an email address someone checks regularly**. After you submit, Paysafe sends any requests for more information to this address, and an unanswered request can have your application withdrawn. You can add technical, customer service and finance contacts as well, or tick 'Same as primary contact' to reuse the same details. Then click **Save and Continue**.

Section three is **Ownership Information**. Paysafe has to identify everyone who owns or controls your organization — that means every ultimate beneficial owner with twenty-five percent or more, and anyone who exercises control over the business. If you're a non-profit, a charity or a municipal entity, you probably have no beneficial owners at all. You still need to name someone: use one of your signing officers.

Click Add Business Representative and complete the fields — position in the company, percentage shareholding, name, date of birth, nationality, social insurance number, residential address and phone.

As the applicant, **use your own home address and real date of birth — not the organization's.** Paysafe is verifying you as an individual, even when you hold no ownership stake. Entering the club's address or an approximate date of birth is not compliant and will send your application into manual review.

A social insurance number is a **required field for Canadian applicants**, and providing yours is the fastest route through. Applicants from Canadian charities, non-profits and municipalities can instead enter the placeholder number **one-two-three-four-five-six-seven-eight-nine**. If you use the placeholder, Paysafe will email you and ask for a copy of your driver's license or passport before your account can be verified.

Then tick the roles that apply to this person: Director, Control Prong — meaning they control or direct the organization — and Applicant. **At least one person has to be marked as the applicant.** Click **Save**, and add more representatives if you need to.

Tick the box to confirm your information is accurate, then click **Verify** to start the automated check.

An automatic identity check runs — this takes up to a minute. If everyone is confirmed, you'll move on automatically.

If the check can't confirm someone, you'll see Verification Failed. This is normal, and it's **common for brand-new organizations** — it doesn't mean anything is wrong. Click **Continue**.

Next, Paysafe asks you to confirm once more that everything you've provided is accurate. This box also confirms that where you've entered someone else's personal details, you have their permission — so speak to your directors before you start this application, not after.

The **Action Required** page lists everyone who still needs documents. Click **Upload** and add that person's government-issued photo ID — a green checkmark confirms it's accepted. **This page asks for photo ID only**. If Paysafe needs anything more — proof of address, articles of incorporation, a T3010, municipal documents — they'll request it by email after you submit. Send those to platform onboarding at paysafe dot com. Then click **Save and Continue**. That's section three. Two to go.

Section four is **Banking Information**, and this is where the name-matching warning from the beginning matters. Your bank account name must match the **Doing Business As** name you entered in section one. If they don't match, Paysafe may not validate your banking details, and your deposits may not arrive on time.

Verification runs through a third-party provider, and your banking credentials aren't stored. Enter your country, your **bank account** number, your three-digit **institution ID**, and your five-digit **transit number**. Merchants in the United States may see an option to link a bank automatically instead.

Then upload a **void cheque** or a **bank letter**. If you're using a letter, it needs to be signed and stamped by your bank, and it has to show your legal name and address, the account number and the routing details. Then click **Save and Continue**. Section four complete. One to go.

Your settlement and processing currencies must match your bank account currency. If you selected multiple currencies, provide a matching bank account for each. And if you use a trust account for deposits, you'll need to provide a separate account for fees.

Section five is your **final review**. Check your business, account, ownership and banking information, and use the **Edit** icon to correct anything that's wrong. It's much easier to fix it here than after you submit.

Scroll to **Merchant Terms** and read them. Then there are two tick boxes, and they do different things. The first is a **marketing opt-out** — you tick it only if you don't want Paysafe and its partners contacting you about products and services. Leave it unticked to receive them. The second is **your declaration**. Ticking it confirms your information is true, accepts the merchant terms including the fee schedule, and gives Paysafe consent to verify identities and run credit checks on your organization and its directors and officers. It also notes that no agreement exists until Paysafe accepts your application, and that Paysafe may decline it or accept it on special terms. One thing worth doing before you sign: your fee details sit behind a separate link at the Sign and Submit button. If you haven't seen your rates yet, open it now.

Clicking Sign and Submit **opens DocuSign**. Review the Electronic Record and Signature Disclosure, **agree** to the terms, and click **Continue**.

Add your signature and click **Finish**. You'll get a confirmation that your application has been submitted.

That's your application in. Paysafe now reviews it — confirming your names all match, and running identity and business verification checks on your organization, the people behind it, and your bank account. If their underwriting team needs anything else, they'll email your primary contact. Please reply directly to Paysafe using the email address [**platformonboarding@paysafe.com**](mailto:platformonboarding@paysafe.com) promptly, even if it's only to say you're working on it. As long as you're in conversation with Paysafe, your application stays active, however long the back-and-forth takes.

**Applications are withdrawn after 30 days of no response.** If Paysafe does not receive an email reply from your primary contact within thirty days, the application is withdrawn. Two last things. When you're approved, Paysafe emails you and Uplifter at the same time, so your Uplifter contact gets the news alongside you. And your Paysafe status on the Uplifter dashboard won't turn green until your first payout runs — even after Paysafe has confirmed your account is active. That's just how the integration reports status back to us. It's expected. Your account is live and can take payments; the indicator catches up.

**So once your application is submitted, your final steps include:** 1. Watch the primary applicant's inbox for updates from Paysafe. 2. Finish configuring your Event or Club Dashboard. *Once your first payout runs, your Paysafe status turns **GREEN** on your Enterprise portal.*
