Perform Instant Access Restore

In this lesson, we will perform an instant restore of a virtual machine copy. A live virtual machine restore enables you to create a new virtual machine directly from the original virtual machine backup on the appliance for the purposes of instant backup validation and recovery of individual files.

Click the "Instant Access VM name" field.

Click "Power on the virtual machine when the restore completes."

Instant Access Session

Expand the Recovery menu and select "RUNNING SESSIONS". This is where we can monitor our Live Virtual Machine sessions. By default a session will automatically expire and unmount itself after 7 days. We could extend this period by clicking the extend button. We can also perform a vMotion directly from PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance to migrate the virtual machine from Protection storage to our primary storage through "MIGRATE" option or "DELETE" as well.

In real world restores you would login to vCenter and see the newly restored VM Your lab environment does not have access to the vCenter Expand the vCenter, DataCenter and Cluster - "Site2" to view the virtual machine inventory. Check the restored Virtual machine .
