1
Open the Pocket app on your phone: Launch the Pocket app from your home screen. Make sure Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are switched "ON" on your phone and your Pocket is nearby.
2
Click on Update Wifi firmware on the Home screen or settings of the Pocket app
3
Wait for the Wifi Connection Pop-up: A system sheet will appear prompting you to join Pocket’s temporary Wi-Fi.
4
Click Join on the Wi-Fi Pop-up: Tap **Join** to connect to the Pocket_XXXX network shown in the prompt.
5
Once you see the update has kicked off, open your device settings: With the update running, leave the app and open **Settings** on your phone.
6
Tap on your phone's Settings, In **Settings**, go to **Wi-Fi** to view your current network.
7
Open Wifi Settings, you will see Pocket's wifi already connected to your Phone, click on the "i" icon: Confirm you’re connected to the **Pocket_XXXX** network. Tap the **ⓘ** info icon next to it.
8
Scroll down to find Configure DNS and tap on it: In the network details, locate **Configure DNS** and open it.
9
Select Manual instead of Automatic: Change DNS from **Automatic** to **Manual**.
10
Now click on remove icon and it will delete and existing records: Tap the **–** (remove) button to delete any existing DNS servers so the list is empty.
11
Now click on Add Server: Tap **Add Server** to create a new DNS entry.
12
Type "0.0.0.0" into the box: Enter **0.0.0.0** exactly as shown.
13
Tap **Save**. That’s it! This prevents your phone from probing for internet on Pocket’s local Wi-Fi, so Wi-Fi firmware updates don’t hang. (We have already fixed this issue in upcoming Pocket device firmware upgrade so tweak won't be needed in the future)
Go ahead and retry updating your Wi-Fi firmware again in the app and this time it should be successful!
