(Promotions) Edit Position Restrictions in Workday

This guide provides a step-by-step process for editing position restrictions in Workday, specifically for edits to a filled position, but those changes are only in preparation for either a recruitment or a promotion that results into a promotional posting.

Workday

Search by employee name

Type employee name and hit enter

Locate position details and find the position in the section highlighted below.

Click on position

A new window will pop up locate position restrictions as seen below.

Locate the ellipsis icon below

Click "Related Actions"

Select "Edit Position Restrictions"

Click "Position Change Reason"

Select change reason.

Edit position details should be the only option to select.

Change title as needed

For promotions select new job profile.

Edit summary as needed "Job Description Summary"

Edit "Job Description" as needed.

Add new request salary here and any additional notes

Add any required documents, ECF functional attributes. etc.

Hit submit to move thought the workflow
