Register an Unattached Professional Player (Previously Registered in NI)

This guide provides a step-by-step process for clubs to register professional players who are currently unattached to another clubs but have been previously registered in Northern Ireland. These instructions clearly outlining necessary actions, ensuring that users can efficiently manage professional player registrations on behalf of their clubs.

In [MyComet](https://comet.irishfa.com/mycomet), click on **My Club**

Select the **Players** tab

Click on **New registration**

Enter the mandatory search information for the player you want to register, which are Family Name & Date of Birth

Then click on **Search**

If the player appears in the **Select Person** section, and has no Active Registration listed, click on their name followed by **Next** to continue with the registration.

Choose the relevant **Registration Type** from the dropdown list.

Choose the **Professional** from the Level dropdown list

Choose the **Football** from the Discipline dropdown list

Click on **Save**

Then click on **Save**

From 1st January 2026, it will be mandatory to upload ID for each registered player. If you are registering a player before this date, please skip to step 14.

In the **Person Documents** section, click on the add **ID Document/Passport** icon

Click on **Choose** and navigate to the **ID Document/Passport** file on your device

Click on **Next** to save the registration status as ENTERED

Then click on **Confirm Later**

In the **Players** tab, select the player you plan to register

Click on **Add Contract**

Enter the mandatory contract information

Then click on **Save**

Click on the **Contract** tab

In the **Documents** section, click on the add **Contract** icon

Click on **Choose** and navigate to the **Standard Professional Contract** file on your device

Any additional documentation such as an 'Option to Extend Contract Letter' relating to the contract should be uploaded in the **Documents** section using the add **Other** icon.

Click on the current status icon and select **SUBMIT**

Click on the **tick** icon to change the registration status to **SUBMITTED**

The IrishFA will then review the documentation and will **CONFIRM** the Contract and Registration if everything is in order. If not, the contract will be returned to the club for resubmission.
