1
Open Scheduling & Rosters--->Requests & Rosters
2
Click "Filter"
3
Click the "Include Inactive Students" field. You'll be setting up the Elementary Class 1-5 (Homeroom) class first, which can be combined.
4
Choose the grades from your split class to filter your list down to. In this example, 03 and 04 gives me only 3rd and 4th graders to choose from.
5
Choose from the Student Name list all the students in the split grade class to highlight their names. Then click Close at the bottom of the side panel.
6
Click "Batch Edit Student Rosters"
7
Click "N205001 Elementary Class 1-5". After clicking courses, they will go to the top of the list, so you'll need to scroll up once you have clicked the courses you are rostering.
8
Select the correct section. Split class sections start with 9
9
Click "Add" - DO NOT add start date if rostering before the school year begins
10
Click "Continue"
11
Click "Close"
12
You now have rostered the split class homeroom. Grades can be combined in Elementary Class 1-5, however the grades must be rostered into their own grade level courses for many other classes. You'll need to Reset the filter to reselect students from each grade separately
13
Click "Filter"
14
Click the "Include Inactive Students" field.
15
Click the "Course Roster" field. Students have already been rostered into a homeroom (934), so you are able to choose students by selecting that course/section.
16
Click "N205001 Elementary Class 1-5"
17
Click "Section Roster"
18
Click the "Section Roster" field.
19
Choose the Section you've rostered
20
Click the "Grade Level(s)" field.
21
Choose the Grade Level you'll be rostering first only
22
Click "Close"
23
Click "Batch Edit Student Rosters". You should see only students in one grade from the Homeroom you are copying to Period 1 courses.
24
For this example, we are rostering the first half of the split class, 2nd grade. Choose all of the grade level classes that correspond with the grade you are rostering.
25
Click "L212011 Literacy 2"
26
After choosing all of the grade level courses (Grade 2 in this example), they will be brought to the top of the list. Choose the correct section for each of the courses (Split classes start with "9").
27
After choosing the correct Section # / Teacher in the Sections: Teacher column, don't change the Start Date, then click Add
28
Click "Continue"
29
Click "Close"
30
Click "Reset". The first grade level of the split class has been rostered, so clicking Reset will remove students from that grade in the filter for you to select students from the other grade.
31
Click "Filter"
32
Click the "Include Inactive Students" field.
33
Click the "Course Roster" field. Choose the SAME course and section that was rostered in the previous step. Choose the OTHER grade this time.
34
Click "N205001 Elementary Class 1-5"
35
Click "Section Roster"
36
Click the "Section Roster" field.
37
Choose the correct split section
38
Click the "Grade Level(s)" field.
39
Click "03" (in this example, the split class is 2nd and 3rd and the 2nd grade was chosen/rostered in the previous steps).
40
Click "Close"
41
Click "Batch Edit Student Rosters"
42
Complete steps 30-40 for the other grade level. In this example, Grade 2 courses were rostered first, but go through the steps again choosing Grade 3 courses.
43
Finally, reset the filter and choose filter again. Click Include inactive students and choose the Course and section for the homeroom you are rostering into all NON GRADE SPECIFIC Courses (most Period 2s, etc)
44
Click "Batch Edit Student Rosters"
45
Choose all the courses that aren't grade specific. For example, PE Generalist 1-5, and other Period 2s that aren't grade specific. Rostering all students in the homeroom can be done at the same time for non grade specific courses.
