**Apprentices and Trainees that Became a Tradesperson Within the Quarter!**
For apprentices or trainees who completes their training contract within the quarter, you will need to change the 'Apprentice/Trainee' field on their worker profile to 'No' before proceeding with your return.
For a visual guide on how to update your worker, [**click this link**](https://scribehow.com/o/UB5YrXNVR2KHNBiE4AgTmw/viewer/Reporting_for_an_Apprentices_who_Became_a_Tradesperson_Within_the_Quarter__a2ywjxfwTE2Jt7PDCSFWQA)**.**
You then need to calculate their Average Daily Ordinary Pay:
- Calculate the total number of days they have worked in the quarter, both as an apprentice/trainee and as a tradesperson.
- Calculate their total Ordinary Pay they received for the days they were a qualified tradesperson.
- Divide the Ordinary Pay by the total number of days worked as both an apprentice and as a tradesperson.
**For example:** If a worker is an Apprentice for 40 days, and then becomes qualified tradesperson for the remaining 25 days in the quarter, their Average Daily Ordinary Pay is calculated like so:
- Days as an Apprentice: 40 days
- Days as a Tradesperson: 25 days
- 40 days + 25 days = 65 total days worked
- $300 Average Daily Ordinary Pay as a tradesperson x 25 days = $7,500 Ordinary Pay
$7,500 / 65 days = $115.3846 Average Daily Ordinary Pay
**On the return, enter 65 total days with an Average Daily Ordinary Pay of $115.3846, and this will ensure you only pay contributions on the pay they received as a tradesperson.**
**Add a comment saying "Includes X days as Apprentice**" for that worker. Next quarter you will get an alert that the daily rate has changed and to give a reason. You can enter "Last quarter included Apprentice days" on your next return.
