Reviewing Your KATANA Safety Set Up

KATANA Safety requires your active participation and should never be treated as a "set it and forget it" tool. Regularly reviewing your setup and connections is essential to ensure optimal performance and safety. Make it a routine practice to assess and adjust your settings as needed. Your vigilance plays a crucial role in maintaining a ready state.

Unless instructed otherwise by your company, the KATANA Safety app and device should be installed on your company issued mobile smartphone.

Opening the KATANA Safety App

Open the KATANA Safety app on your mobile smartphone.

If you open up the app and see the below screen, it means that you are logged out due to inactivity or you have intentionally logged out of the app (which you should never do). Click on ***"I am already a user"*** to log back in.

If you had to log back in, the app may prompt you to first connect a device before taking you to the map home screen. If you do *not* have a safety device with you or were not issued one by your company, click on ***skip***.

Reviewing Your App Home Screen

Once you open the app (and have logged back in, if you were logged out), you should be taken directly to a home screen which will display your current location on a map.

You should see the in-app **panic and silent alarms** (red buttons) and the **check in button** (blue button). - The "Walk with Me" (yellow button) and the "Start a Visit" (green button) are visible based on your company's subscription. - If you do ***not*** see one or both of those buttons, it means that it is not included with your subscription. - If you are missing one of these options and believe it is an error, please contact your manager.

Error Messages

In order for the KATANA Safety app to properly connect alarms to the Response Center, location services ***must*** be enabled and set to ***"always/always allow"*** with precise location enabled (iphone users) or high accuracy toggled on (android users).

If the map home screen presents a "Location Permission" error, click on "Fix It" to make the necessary adjustments. When Location Permissions are enabled correctly on your phone, the error message in the app will disappear.

If you have a company issued smartphone and are unable to correct Location Permissions and the error message in the app persists, please contact your company IT department or IT HelpDesk for further guidance. ***Apple***: Location Services must be enabled at the phone level first, and then Location Access at the app level must be set to Always with Precise Location enabled. ***Android***: Location must be 'on' AND Location Accuracy must be 'on' at the global phone level first, and then Location Permissions at the App level must be set to Allow All the Time.

REMINDER: KATANA Safety is NOT a tracking service. When location permissions are properly enabled, it allows the Response Center to utilize your location information to locate your address in an emergency during an ***active*** alarm.

Safety Device

If you have been issued a KATANA Safety device, the presence of a battery icon on the map home screen indicates that a device has been associated with your profile.

If there are issues with the device properly connecting to your account, an in-app error message, like the one below, will be visible, and the battery icon will be red. The most common cause for this is because blue tooth is disabled. - To correct, you will need to enable blue tooth permissions in your phone settings. - If turning on blue tooth does not correct the error, pull down on the red tab on your KATANA Safety device to confirm that it makes a chirping sound. Push the red tab back in place to stop the chirping sound. ***STOP***: If you do not hear a chirping sound when you pulled down on the red tab, push the red tab back in place and then please open up a KATANA Support ticket (click on the three lines AKA Menu and click on the ringing phone icon on the bottom left corner to submit a ticket).
