Setting Up Microsoft Authenticator

To ensure your MFA setup goes smoothly, please try to complete these steps in one continuous session as quickly as possible. Because the security codes are time-sensitive, moving through the process without pausing will help prevent any configuration errors. The entire process should not take longer than 5 minutes.

From a computer or secondary device (not your cell phone), navigate to[**https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info**](https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info)**.** Enter your email address and temporary password.

You will see this screen. Tap or click **Next.**

If you do not already have the Microsoft Authenticator app installed on your cell phone, please download it onto your iOS or Android device by visiting the App Store or Google Play Store, respectively. When it has finished installing, click or tap **Next**.

From within the app, tap the + icon in the upper-right, then tap on **Work or school account**. Click or tap **Scan QR code**. Do not use the "Sign in" option. Back on the secondary device screen, click or tap **Next**.

Hold your cell phone device's camera up to the QR code displayed on the secondary device to automatically scan. The app will return to the previous screen, and you should see the account in the list. Back on the secondary device, click or tap **Next**.

You are almost there! Please complete the remaining steps to finalize your Microsoft security sync and activate your UML account access.

Enter the code displayed on the secondary device into the Authenticator prompt on your cell phone. Once done, the secondary device screen will refresh to this. Click or tap **Done** on the secondary device.

Enter your cell phone number, then click or tap **Next.**

Enter the code that was texted to your cell phone. Tap or click **Next**.

You should be presented with this screen. Tap or click **Done.**

A final confirmation screen will appear.
