Setting Up The V400C on Counter Mode

The Verifone V400C is a wired terminal only available to use on Counter Mode. This terminal needs to be connected to a power source continually, as there is no built-in battery.\ \ If you need a completely wireless solution for payments, please have a look at the S1F2 model, which will have a built in battery for wireless use.

On the backside of the terminal, you will see a sticker that notes down the serial number of the terminal. This will be the terminal identifier when reaching out to support.

Opening up the backside of the terminal, the 2 ports you will use will be: The power port on the right, and the ethernet port in the center. While this terminal can be set up by WIFI, it is best practice to have a wired connection to your network.

Once connected to the network, you will see the appropriate symbol in the top right corner of the terminal screen. We will need to grab the IP address the terminal is receiving - press 9 followed by the green O button to open the settings menu.

Once in the Settings Menu, select "Information sur l'appareil" and you will see the IP address assigned to the terminal at the bottom of the screen.

It is always best practice to put the IP address in static mode for payment terminals. To do this press the back arrow on the top left of the screen to get back to the Settings menu. From here select > "Reseau" and enter the ADMIN PASSWORD (1234), followed by the green O. Select the method of connection you are using, and toggle off "DHCP", enter in the preferred static IP, and click the checkmark at the bottom right of the screen to confirm.

It is important to note the terminal is not able to take payments while the Settings Menu is open. Please ensure you are fully closing out of Settings when not in use by clicking the red X button until back to the home screen.

Now that the terminal is connected to the network, we will need to connect the terminal to the POS. Log into the POS using the Cluster Admin Token.

Now is a good time to confirm the POS and terminal are on the same network.

Select Devices > Add > and click the Payment terminal icon to add a terminal to the POS.

Change the subtype to Adyen from the drop down.

Enter in the IP address set on the terminal.

Next, enter in the Crypto Key name and Password(case sensitive):\ Name: Cluster\ Password: Cluster123@@ Once all credentials are in, select "Continue" to save changes.

Testing the Terminal

The minimum amount to test will be $0.25, testing a lower amount will give errors.

Now that everything is set up, we must do a test transaction to confirm the terminal is working correctly.\ Go into counter mode and create a sale as normal

The integrated card type will be listed as "CARD" Any other payment method will not trigger the terminal.

The Total confirmation will appear before the terminal will trigger. Click the green checkmark to prompt the terminal.

The total being shown on the POS confirmation screen is the post-tax amount.

The terminal will prompt the customer for a tip selection.

The amount listed on the terminal for the tip prompt will be the pre-tax amount to stay compliant to Quebec's Bill 72 .

The terminal will then ask the customer to present their card for payment. The total listed on the terminal will be the **post tip and tax amount.**

When the payment is approved, the terminal will ask the customer if they would like to print the receipt. The customer can choose yes or no. The receipt will print from the built-in terminal printer.

The next step is to print the merchant copy of the receipt by selecting "Continue". Once printed, the terminal will say approved, and will be ready for the next transaction.
