Setting up Grade Book Categories and Weighting Activities

This guide provides a step-by-step process for setting up grade book categories and weighting activities, ensuring that faculty can effectively organize and assess student performance. By following these instructions, faculty can create specific categories like "Quizzes" and "Reports" and assign appropriate weightings to each.

Go to the **Grades** page.

Click **SETUP**.

In the bottom right corner, click **Add category**.

Name your new category.

Click **Create Category**.

Click the **6-stacked dots** icon to drag any assignments into your grade book category.

You can also select which assignments will appear hidden or visible in the grade book. *This visibility is independent of the assignment visibility on the course home page.*

To set a weight to the category, enable the checkbox next to **Set weight**.

Enter a weighted percentage.

You can also weight individual assignments, using a similar method:
