Signing Up as a Note-taker Account and Selecting Courses

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to sign up as a note-taker and cancel your registration as a note-taker in the OAS portal.

Signing Up as a Note-taker

Login to the [OAS Note-taker Application](https://whitney.accessiblelearning.com/FSU/applicationnotetaker.aspx) using your FSUID and password

Review the requirements and expectations of OAS note-takers

Under "**PERSONAL INFORMATION**", enter your **first name**, **last name**, **EMPLID,** and **FSU email**

Select "**CREATE NOTETAKER ACCOUNT**" to finalize creating your account

Selecting Courses for Note-taking

Select the "**NOTETAKER**" tab located on the left navigation panel

Navigate down, under the header " **FIND A COURSE**", enter the **Course Subject**, **Course Number,** and **Course Section** of the course you'd like to be a note-taker for

Select "**SEARCH COURSES**"

Select the course you'd like to be a note-taker for from the "**SEARCH RESULTS**" located to the right of the "**FIND A COURSE**" section

Tip! Check the name of the **Instructor**, before selecting the course!

Once you have selected the course from the "**SEARCH RESULTS**", the **CRN** will populate under the Semester heading

Tip! If you would like to be note-taker for more than one course, please use the "**FIND A COURSE**" and "**SEARCH RESULTS**" to add additional courses.

Select "**ADD COURSES**"

Select the checkboxes next to the courses you'd like to be a note-taker for

Read and review the Note-taker Agreement and type your name as it appears in the "**E-Signature**" field

Select "**SUBMIT YOUR REQUEST**" to finalize signing up as a note-taker

Tip! Note-takers receive hours **equivalent to the time spent in class** over the semester plus an additional **4 hours** to include the time spent over the semester uploading notes. For example: A 50-min course that meets Monday, Wednesday, and Friday during the Spring Semester 1. 50 mins × 3 (the number of times the course meets per week) = 150 mins 2. 150 mins × 15 (the number of weeks uploading notes) = 2,250 mins 3. 2,250 mins ÷ 60 (converting minutes to hours) = 37.5 hours 4. 37.5 hours + 4 hours = 41.5 hours The formula is the amount of time spent in class taking notes for OAS, multiplied by the number of weeks, plus an additional 4 hours. Note-takers do not qualify for weeks in the semester during which they did not upload notes. For example: If a note-taker does not start uploading notes until **Week Four** of the semester. They do not qualify to receive service hours for the **first three weeks of the semester** during which they did not upload notes.

Note-taking assignments will default to "**Not Assigned**"

Alert! Please allow **1-2 business days** for OAS Staff to assign you to your added courses.

If you have not been assigned to a course after **2 days**, please email [oas-notetaking@fsu.edu](mailto:oas-notetaking@fsu.edu) for additional information.

Confirming your Note-taking Assignment

Tip! Once you have been assigned to a course, you will be able to **confirm** or **decline** your assignment via email. The email will have the subject line: **\[OAS\] *your selected course* Note-Taking Confirmation Needed**

Once you have located the automatically generated email, you can either agree to be a note-taker or decline the note-taking assignment. - **To agree, select:** I agree to take notes in class and I am still enrolled in this class - **To decline, select:** I would not be able to take notes in this class, because I have either dropped the class or do not feel that I could take notes in the aforementioned class.

If you agree to the note-taking assignment, you will be prompted to login to the OAS Portal using your FSU ID and password, where your assigment will be confirmed.

Cancelling a Note-taking Assignment

Select the "**NOTETAKER**" tab located on the left navigation panel

Under the "**LIST COURSES**" select "**Cancel**"

After you have cancelled courses, the status will update to "**Cancelled**"
