Tailoring your Nectir AI Assistant's Personality via Prompts

Utilizing the prompt library can also simplify the process, making it easier to create an effective learning partner.

Open your course in [Canvas ](https://smccd.instructure.com/)and navigate to you Nectir AI Assistant.

In the top right corner, select the **Settings** icon

From the left side menu, select "**Prompt**"

In the prompt box, enter information that will form your AI's personality. You can describe the tone it takes, the way it will respond to questions, how it is expected to engage with students, and more!

If you are struggling to get started on a prompt, select the "**Prompt library**" button at the top. The Prompt library will provide template prompts that you can be added directly to your AI and edited after the fact.

For this example, we chose "Learning Partner" since the main goal of this AI is to help students better understand course content and their work on assignments.

When you are finished entering your prompt, select the "**Save changes**" button at the bottom.

To test your AI Assistant and its responses, select the name of your assistant from the far left menu.

Chat directly with your personalized AI via the "Write a message..." text box.
