Test Center Hosted Exam Settings - Canvas New Quizzes

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to set options to host your New Quizzes assessment in the Test Center. It covers important settings such as due dates, availability, time limits, IP filtering, and calculator allowance. Following this guide ensures that the exam is properly configured and published promptly for students to access it.

Begin your settings update process by locating the exam you intend to use and select the three vertical dots on the side of the exam name. Select "Edit" from the dropdown menu.

In the Assign section... a) the "Due" date and the "Until" date must be the same date and time. The date is the last day the exam is open and the time is closing time of the test center on that day. b) the "Available from" date is the opening date/time for the exam. The time should match the opening of the Test Center for that day. All dates must match your RegisterBlast Submission.

Click "Save" once you have completed the Assign settings.

Again, click on the three vertical dots and select "Build" from the dropdown menu.

Click the "Settings" tab at the top of the screen.

Turn on "Time limit" by selecting the slider button and select the number of hours/minutes for your exam. This must match the "allotted minutes" in your RegisterBlast submission. Once your time is set, click "Filter IP addresses."

Once the "Filter IP addresses" button is toggled, input the IP range. If you do not have the IP range, please email [testcenterhelp@iastate.edu](mailto:testcenterhelp@iastate.edu). If you are allowing a calculator on your exam, turn on the "Allow Calculator" setting and select the appropriate type.

Once the settings have been toggled, select "Return" at the top right portion of the screen.

Please make sure your exam is published at least two business days before the opening date otherwise students will not be able to access the exam.
