Unmio - Add New Contact

This guide offers an overview of how to add a new contact to your organization's digital community. Unmio provides 4 different ways to support the different types of interactions you may have with an individual (phone, video, in-person, etc). - QR Code Scan - SMS Text Message - Shareable Link - Manual Input By following the steps outlined, organizations can invite others to join their organization's community.

Unmio

QR Code Invitation

This is the preferred, most secure, and easiest way to add a new contact. It provides a QR code that individuals can scan using their mobile device. It guides the recipient to their respective app store if they don't have the Unmio mobile app installed or opens the app and guides them through the connection workflow if they do.

From your home dashboard, click the hamburger menu here.

Click "Contacts"

Click "..." button.

Click "Show QR code invitation"

A window opens with the generated QR code.

**Contact View:** Individuals can scan the QR code with their mobile device. The QR code can be scanned from a computer screen or printed on paper. For example, you can add the QR code to a flyer that you distribute at community events.

**Contact View**:The scan redirects the new contact to open the app or install it.

Click "×" to close the window after scanning.

The window closes returning you to the "Contacts" home page.

Shareable Link Invitation

Unmio can create a web link that can be shared via popular communications channels like email, WhatsApp, Signal, etc. It guides the recipient to their respective app store if they don't have the Unmio mobile app installed or opens the app and guides them through the connection workflow if they do.

Click this button.

Click "Copy invitation link"

A window opens with the shareable invitation link.

Click "Copy invitation link"

The invitation link has been copied to your clipboard. You can now paste the link to an email, WhatsApp chat, or any other communication channel that supports web links. Ask recipient to open link on their smartphone device.

Click "×" to close window.

The window closes returning you to the "Contacts" home page.

Congrats! You've successfully created a shareable web link invitation.

SMS Text Message Invitation

Creates and send an SMS text message that takes the recipient to their respective app store if they don't have the Unmio mobile app installed or opens the app and guides them through connection workflow if they do.

From your home dashboard, click the hamburger menu here.

Click "Contacts"

Click "Send Unmio mobile invitation"

A window opens for you to enter information required to send the SMS text invitation.

For compliance reasons, please confirm with new contact that they are of age and consent to receive SMS messages from your organization in order to proceed.

Once confirmed, click the "The community member is over 13 years old and consents to receiving SMS messages" field.

Select the language to be used for the message .

Click the "Mobile phone number" field and enter the new contacts mobile number.

Click "Send invitation" once you have confirmed the information is correct.

If the invitation was successfully sent, you will receive a notification.

The community member will receive an SMS text message on their end.

The link in the SMS text message redirects the user to the following page.

Click "X" to close the notification.

The app navigates back to the "Contacts" home page.

Congrats! You've successfully share an invitation using SMS Text messaging.

Manual Add Contact

This method should be used as a last resort. Manually inputting contact information is prone to errors that can lead to duplicate contacts and makes it hard to keep contact information up to date.

From your home dashboard, click the hamburger menu here.

Click "Contacts"

Click the "..." button.

Click "Manually add new contact"

Click the "First name" field.

Type in the contacts first name and click the "Last name" field.

Type in contacts last name and click "Next".

If provided information matches existing contact, Unmio will prompt you with the possible duplicate contacts for you to review. If duplicate is not found, proceed to the following [step](https://scribehow.com/viewer/Unmio__Add_A_New_Contact_Web__8gRk5M3URt-_hDf2a0V_Vg?scrollToActionId=60d54f92).

Click this icon to expand and reveal existing contact details.

If the new contact is a duplicate, click ">Exit to profile" to cancel new contact creation and navigate to the contact's profile.

If new contact is not a duplicate, click "+Create contact".

On the contact create form, select the contact's preferred language.

Complete the phone number and Date of birth information.

When done, click the "Save" button.

Congrats you've successfully created a new contact.
