Guide: Update your Display Name in Zoom

This guide provides step-by-step instructions on how to update your display name in Zoom. The guide covers both changing your display name in a Zoom session and in the online portal.

Change your Display Name in a Zoom Session

**Make sure you're using a professional and informative display name!** \ This will be how you're logged in attendance reports. Below are instructions on how to change

Click "Participants" on the tool bar to open the Participants Panel

Find your name on the Participants Panel and click the "ellipsis (...)" button

Click "participant list, use arrow key to navigate, and press tab for more options"

Enter your full name and include your NetID in parentheses to help improve our ability to track your attendance

Click "Change" to update

Adding your NetID helps increase the ability to identify you on attendance reports in Concurrent Session due to reporting limitations in Zoom Meetings. This is not necessary but is still helpful in Webinar sessions.

Your revised display name will now show in the Participants panel

Change your Display Name in the Online Portal

Navigate to [https://duke.zoom.us/profile](https://duke.zoom.us/profile)

Click "Edit"\ *You can see what your current Display Name is underneath your Directory Name.*

Click the Display Name field

Enter your full name and include your NetID in parentheses to help improve our ability to track your attendance.

Click "Save"

You will see your updated Display Name on the profile page (<https://duke.zoom.us/profile>)
