This training module assumes that you have already learned how to use the ontology template. If you have not, head to the [ontology template page](https://scribehow.com/shared/Ontology_template_v11__vWkXqi9LQkuaBOcinC2Aaw) to review.
Things to Remember
It is not recommended that you upload each ontology term as an individual term. Using the ontology template to upload a batch file is a much faster and more efficient way to upload a larger amount of ontology terms.\ Use the individual ontology term upload for new terms that may need to be added based on your breeding programs' needs.
Upload a Batch File

To upload a batch file of ontology terms you can use the purple "import batch file" while you are in the ontology screen or head to the "import data" screen and then click on ontology.

From the purple "manage ontology" button on the right, you can import or download a file.

Download the ontology template. Complete it and then choose the file and then upload and validate.

If you are happy with your import, click the green "confirm" button.

You can view more details about ontology terms in the ontology view screen. You can also click on "edit" to change details about the ontology term.
Archive Ontology Terms

From that same edit screen. You can also archive ontology terms. This will not affect any current experiments. Click the button next to "active" and then scroll down and save. DeltaBreed will ask you to confirm your choice to archive. Click "yes, archive". (Hover over the screen to see multiple steps.)

This ontology term is now archived. To make it active again, click on show details, edit and click next to "active" and save.
Search for Ontology Terms

You can search for a term by the ontology name, term type, trait, etc. using the search bar at the top of the ontology view screen.\ You can also sort by clicking on a column title. (See orange arrow below.)
