Uploading, matching and ordering handwriting

This guide provides a step-by-step process for efficiently uploading, matching and ordering student handwriting pages using the Writemark platform.

Elastik

Navigate to "**Writemark**" and select "**Writing Activities**"

Choose the writing activity of your choice by clicking the blue arrow

Select "**Upload Handwriting**" in the top-right of the page

If this doesn't appear for you, click "**More** **Actions**" and it should appear there

"**Click to upload**" or "**Drag and drop**" the completed template files onto the field\ \ Then click "**Submit Uploads**"

The files must be in a PDF format to be uploaded to Elastik

While waiting for the uploads to process, you will see a "**Processing Uploads**" prompt on your page

After the processing has been complete, notifications will show up in the top-right of your Elastik notifying you of the upload process

If you are stuck at the "**Matching In Progress**" process, the next step provides info how to proceed past that

In the top-right corner, you will see a "**Match Essays**" button, select that or head to the next step below

If you see "**Matching in Progress**" it means pages are not matched correctly.\ Click "**More Actions**" on the activity and select "**Manage Unmatched Pages**".\ \ Any unmatched pages can be drag and dropped onto the student's name on the left-hand side, also the "**Bin**" icon can delete duplicate or extra pages.

During the **matching progress**, you may have to check every student to ensure the pages are sorted **left-to-right** (e.g. from pages 1-4) **as this affects the marking process**.

When clicking a student's name you can view the pages assigned to them. \ The "**Undo**" button sends pages back to unmatched if dragged to the wrong student\ \ Please ensure that the pages are **moved and dragged to be sorted** left-to-right by the page order, e.g. from pages 1-4\ \ Then click "**Save Changes**" and "**Submit**" the work to go into processing stage.

"**Submit & Archive**" submits all the work, and deletes the extra pages\ "**Submit & Return**" leaves the extra pages you had in "**Unmatched Pages**"

When all pages are saved and submitted, the status will go to "**Processing**"\ \ If the work has been blocked by a guardrail, "**Teacher Intervention Required**" will appear as the status

When "**Teacher Intervention Required**" appears, click the "**View**" button at the end of that student's work \ \ You are given multiple different courses of action to take, "**Mark with AI**" was chosen in this instance

Alternatively, if you choose to mark it manually and edit the overall score yourself, the dimensions have to be edited individually then saved\ \ Then you can proceed to click "**Approve & Next**" in the top-right of the page

Options like "**Other**" allow you to add a note such as "*Discussed with student in person*" \ \ While "**Return to Student**" allows the work to be reuploaded, or to be edited further
