Using Anchor Links

Anchor links, also known as jump links or in-page links, are used to direct users to a specific location on the same webpage. The RCCL allows anchor links to be placed at the component level and inside rich text fields, such as the Rich Text component. Users clicking component-level anchor links will navigate directly to the component on the same page; Clicking anchor links inside rich text fields will navigate directly to the location of the anchor on the page.

Component-level Anchors

To create an anchor link to a specific component, click "edit" on your component and locate the [[Anchor Value]] field.

The [[Anchor Value]] field is located at the bottom of the component. Enter your anchor link text here. **Please use plain text only–no symbols or hashes (e.g. #).** Please note: The anchor link text appears at the end of your page's URL when clicked by a user – Try to keep the anchor text direct and concise.

Rich Text Anchors

To create an anchor link inside rich text fields, place your cursor where you want users to land upon clicking and press the [[anchor icon]]. Enter your anchor link text here and press [[Insert]]. **Please use plain text only–no symbols or hashes (e.g. #).**

Linking to Your Anchors

Once your anchors have been setup, you can create links to help users navigate your webpage. To link to an anchor, always use the following format in the URL field: **#YourAnchorTitle** The **hashtag (#)** denotes an anchor link. In most cases, you want your links to be *above* the anchored sections of the page for a better user experience.
