Using the Banner Advanced Search to find an online asynchronous general education course

Navigate to [https://xe3a.mybanner.gvsu.edu/StudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/term/termSelection?mode=search](https://xe3a.mybanner.gvsu.edu/StudentRegistrationSsb/ssb/term/termSelection?mode=search)

Click the semester you are looking to add a class in

Click "Advanced Search". If you are on a tablet or small device, you may need to maximize your window to view this option or lower your summary pop up in the bottom of the window.

Scroll through the options and Click "Attribute". This is where you will select the gen ed category you would like to complete. Please keep in mind that Issues courses would require you to select all 6 "Issues" categories for the full list and require 55 or more completed credits.

Next, click "Instructional Methods"

Click "Online"

If you would like to filter out any classes that are already full, click the "Open Sections Only" field.

Click "Search"

This list should include all online options for that general education category. You can hover over or click the course title to verify that the course is asynchronous by looking at the Room #. It will say ASYNCH. \ \ You can also verify the requirements a course will complete by looking at the Attribute column. For example, some of these courses cover multiple categories. \ \ Please SKIP any courses listed as "LEADS Program" in the Attribute column or with a "Prior Approval Required" restriction as these are not available to the general student population.
