Using the "Draw Map" Tool and Feature Editor In Spotzi

Learn how to draw custom polygons and add specific point markers to your map using using the Draw Map tool. This guide demonstrates how to create custom geofences, save feature changes, and manage your map layers effectively for deeper spatial analysis. Your custom "Draw Map" datasets can also later be used as the input for Visitor Profiles or Measurement reports.

Creating a New Drawing Dashboard

Navigate to the "Management" tab.

Click "Draw Map" to open up the drawing tool.

Name your drawing dashboard.

Click "Create dashboard".

An empty dashboard will be created. You now have the option to create a layer and fill it with objects (points or polygons).

Creating Custom Polygons

Select "Polygon" from the layer geometry type options to begin drawing custom polygons. Name your layer and click "Create New Layer".

Use the map zoom controls or the address tab to navigate to the spot on your map where you'd like to create your first polygon.

Click "+ Add new Feature" once you're zoomed into the right location.

You may click on the map to begin drawing your first polygon. Every click will create a point at which the lines outlining your polygon meet.

Double click when you're done drawing your polygon.

You may give your polygon a name, and add a description. These can be used to identify and filter for specific objects in this layer. **Please note:** Adding a "Name" column is also mandatory for optimal Visitor Profile and Measurement report outputs.

Click "Save Changes" when you're happy with your inputs.

Your new polygon will be confirmed. You may now either publish all of the changes made this layer, or you may continue creating new polygons.

Click "Add new Feature" to start drawing a second polygon. This new polygon will be created on the same layer as your first polygon.

Click on the map to begin drawing your second polygon.

Click "Publish all changes" when you're happy with your layer objects.

Click "Update Features" to confirm the changes to your polygon layer.

Your new polygons have now been saved and published.

You can still choose to edit your layer after publishing. To continue adding new polygons, click "Add new Feature".

Make your polygon and click "Save Changes".

If you change your mind about your new location, you can click "Discard all changes" instead of publishing your layer edits. This will discard all unpublished changes to your layer.

Publish your changes and confirm your feature updates.

When you close and reopen the feature editor you will be prompted to either select a layer to edit or to create a new layer. Please ensure that all polygons are **added to the same layer** if you are planning on using these locations as input for a visitor profile or measurement report.

If you'd like to make a **new layer** with new objects instead, click "Create New Layer". This will create an additional layer in your dashboards, and all objects on this new layer will be separate from those in your first layer.

Creating Custom Points

You may select"Point" geometry type when creating a new drawing layer. This will allow you to plot custom points on the map. **Please note:** It is not possible to create both points and polygons on the same layer. You must either create a new layer or a new drawing dashboard in order to switch to a new geometry type.

Click your map to create a new point. Fill in the feature data and click "Save Changes".

Click "Publish all changes" and "Update Features" when you're happy with your points layer.

Editing your Object Layers

You may edit the objects in your layers at any time by simply navigating back to the feature editor in your dashboard.

Select the layer you would like to edit from the layer dropdown.

You may click on an object to edit the data associated with that object, or to change it's shape/location on the map. If you'd like to move an existing point to a new location, simply click on it to select it.

Drag your point or click on a new area on the map to move it to that spot. Click "Save Changes" when you're happy with your point's new position.

You may also click on an existing polygon to make changes to it.

Click on any vertex to move it to a new location and change the shape of your polygon. Save your changes when you're happy with your new polygon shape.

Deleting Objects

If you'd like to completely remove an object from your map and data layer, select that object and click "Delete Feature".

Click "Remove" to confirm object deletion.

Click "Publish all changes" and "Update Features" when you're done editing your layer.

A dashboard may only have a **maximum of one layer** in order to be used as the input for a Visitor Profile or Measurement report. If you would like to delete an extra layer from your drawing dashboard, simply navigate to the "layers" panel and click the trash icon on the layer you would like to remove.

Click "Remove" to confirm. This will permanently delete the layer and it's data.
