Using the Landing: News content type

The Landing: News content type offers a hero carousel, "News" banner and many components suited for a news center. This content type requires some initial setup to enable all features.

The Landing: News content type requires some initial setup to enable all features.

News Banner

Navigate to **Structure > Block layout**.

The News banner, which displays as a red navigation bar at the top of your Landing: News page, is controlled by the **News Landing Nav** and **Slim News Landing Nav** blocks. To avoid duplicate banners, leave the two news blocks **disabled** (default). To avoid the news banner displaying sitewide, go to the configuration screen for the news blocks and limit the display to **Landing: News** (under Visibility > Content Type).

Banner Links

Navigate to **Structure > Menu > News Landing**.

Create your links and save.

Topics Menu

Navigate to **Structure > Menu > Topics**.

**NOTE:** The topic URL must be the same as the associated taxonomy URL alias found at **Structure > Taxonomy > Topic**.

Create your links and save. The **Explore Topics** menu will appear as a black navigation menu under the **News Banner** on your Landing: News page.

Views

The Drupal version of the RCCL features Views which automatically collect and display content in one place.

Navigate to **Structure > Views**.

News related content has three associated views that function out of the box: - **In The News** - [[YourDomain.edu/in-the-news]]\ This view displays all Media Mentions content type entries. - **News Archive** - [[YourDomain.edu/news/archive]]\ This view displays all news content entries. - **News Topics** - [[YourDomain.edu/taxonomy/term/ID]]\ Each news topic has an associated views page. The ID portion of the URL represents the numerical topic taxonomy ID. If you need to customize views, please speak with your website administrator or developer.
