All About DeGroote's Faculty Profiles

Profiles require a lot of information to be accurate and up to date. To ensure this process is as easy as possible, aspects of the content population flows in from three different areas:

    1. HR's Employee Management System (EMS)

    2. McMaster's MacExperts Profiles

    3. DeGroote WordPress Backend

Which sources update different parts of a DeGroote profile?

To help with triaging requests, we have broken down the data by each of the three sources listed above.

It is important to note that when changes are made to any system, the data can take up to 48-hours to update. Please ensure you let educators know that there is a delay to ensure we do not overwhelm any of these three platforms.

    HR's Employee Management System (EMS)

On a DeGroote profile the below content comes directly from HR's EMS system.

    1. Title (ie. Dr.)

    2. First Name, Last Name

    3. Job Title (Mosaic, or Working Title for Overrides)

    4. Department / Academic Area

    5. Email

    6. Phone Extensions

    Who Updates It?

This profile info can only be approved to change and updated by Human Resources. Once you have confirmation to change the data the request should go to Carol Gerritsen ([email protected]) with Katie on CC (so we can check the profile after 48-hours)

    McMaster's MacExperts Profiles

McMaster Experts is run centrally by McMaster University and not the team at DeGroote. We draw from the content loaded to MacExperts profiles so that Faculty members can centrally update both profiles. The below data comes in via MacExperts.

    1. Profile Photo

      1. This applies to full time faculty only. The recommended size is a minimum of 1080px by 1080px which is a square crop.

    2. Website Links

    3. Biography

    4. Journal Publications

    5. Other Publications

    Who Updates It?

This profile info must be updated by the faculty member by logging into their MacExperts account. We cannot support in updating these profiles, but the content is vital for DeGroote profiles to populate.

There is a very useful McMaster Experts User Guide that the MacExperts team created to support educators in updating their profiles. As well as a Common Questions FAQ page.

If the solution cannot be found via one of those two methods please email the MacExperts team directly for support: [email protected]

The MacExperts team also notes: please be advised that edits made in the Profile Manager may take up to 3 hours to appear on McMaster Experts during weekdays, and longer on weekends.
