Marymount Systems - New Parent Guide

    Overview

As a parent you are likely already familiar with OpenApply which we use for student enrolment. If information changes at any time, please head to OpenApply where you can update the contact information we hold on file for you. We'll also use OpenApply to facilitate our annual data check to help ensure the information we have remains accurate.

In anticipation of your daughters first day at Marymount you'll receive activation emails for both ManageBac and SchoolsBuddy, the other two systems used by our parents. ManageBac is the leading online platform for IB schools, tailored to assist the delivery of all elements of the MYP and DP curriculum. SchoolsBuddy is our one stop shop for all other aspects of school life at Marymount, beyond the curriculum and what is going on inside the classroom.

The three systems (OpenApply, ManageBac and SchoolsBuddy) are developed and supported by Faria Education who build internationally focused education systems and services. After initially linking your accounts, you'll only require your ManageBac credentials to access any of the three systems by heading to https://accounts.faria.org.

    Student Device Setup

    Minimum Device Specification

As part of Marymount's Bring Your Own Device program, students require a personal laptop that meets the following minimum specifications to facilitate effective digital learning:

    • Processor: Intel Core i5 (or equivalent)

    • Memory: 8GB RAM

    • Operating System: Windows 10 or MacOS BigSur

(Please note that Android, iPad, Chromebook, or Linux systems are not suitable)

    • Storage: 128GB

To ensure the device remains efficient for future applications, we recommend a laptop with:

    • Memory: 16GB RAM

    • Operating System: Windows 11 or MacOS Ventura

    • Storage: 256GB

The school will provide Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Cloud desktop applications for installation on student devices.

Whilst both Windows and Mac devices meet our requirements, faculty will be using Microsoft Surface Pro 9 devices, which may simplify potential guidance and troubleshooting should students be using a similar device.

    Before Coming To School

To ensure a seamless start, it is essential that your daughter works through the "Marymount Systems - New Student Guide" with you prior to her arrival on campus.

This guide provides instructions on how to install the required applications and certificates on her device that are necessary for using her device at school. Please note that certain parental controls or non-administrator accounts may restrict these installations, so it is important to address any such limitations beforehand.

Should you have any queries or issues, please don't hesitate to contact the School IT Department at any time by emailing [email protected].

    OpenApply

The school provides an opportunity to comprehensively review information we have on file for your family once a year via an annual update form which we send for completion through OpenApply.

Basic contact information however can be edited on individual OpenApply profiles at any time, so please follow the guide below should your address, telephone, or email change throughout the course of an academic year.

    Viewing Reports

One of the key features of ManageBac is the ability for you to view your daughter's academic reports. These reports provide a detailed overview of her progress, including grades and comments from teachers.

    Exploring the Curriculum

ManageBac also provides you with valuable information about the curriculum your daughter is following. Course overviews and learning objectives are available for each subject to allow you to better support her learning at home. We hope that upcoming assignment and assessment information will be centralised and available on ManageBac later this Academic Year.
