Introduction to Panopto with Blackboard Ultra

Welcome to your onboarding and support guide for using Panopto in conjunction with Blackboard Ultra. This guide will help you navigate the integration of Panopto with our Learning Management System (LMS) and provide you with essential information to get started.

Activating Your Panopto Account and Integrating Panopto with Blackboard Ultra (Faculty and Staff who teach)

To activate your account (one time only) and integrate Panopto with Blackboard Ultra (each course where you will be using Panopto), follow the steps in the scribe below:

Accessing Panopto (All users)

In addition to accessing Panopto via the Content Market in Blackboard Ultra (see above), you can access Panopto using Single Sign-On (SSO). To do so, follow these steps:

1. Go to the SSO link: fhsu.hosted.panopto.com.

2. Enter your institutional credentials (Tiger ID and Password).

3. Once logged in, you will have access to your Panopto account and be able to record, upload, adjust permissions, share, or organize content.

Note: You may also access this view by "popping out" the view from within Blackboard Ultra. To do so look for the icon of a box with an arrow in the upper right-hand corner from within Panopto in Blackboard. This is the best way to access the SSO view if you are logged in to a course in Blackboard as you are already "logged in" to Panopto and attempting to use the SSO may result in an error message.

Alert! If you do not have "Creator" privileges in Panopto when you access it (through Blackboard Ultra or SSO), submit at ticket HERE.

Uploading Outside Content to Panopto

Once you have activated your Panopto account, you can start uploading your video or audio content. For detailed instructions, refer to the scribe below:

Accessing Zoom Meeting Recordings

If you have recorded Zoom meetings that you want to access through Panopto, you can easily do so. For guidance on this process, please refer to the scribe below:

Accessing Your Migrated VidGrid Videos

If you have videos you recorded via our previous video service (VidGrid), and they have been successfully migrated, you may use the resource below to locate them. For guidance on this process, please refer to the scribe below:

Embedding Panopto Videos Within Your Course

If you have recorded videos, or want to directly record and embed videos for your course, you may easily do so. For guidance on this process, please refer to the scribe below:

Best Practices for Using Panopto

- Organize Your Content: Create folders in Panopto to keep your videos organized by course or topic. Ensure that your courses are under the appropriate "Parent" folder (My Folder) for ease of access and location. You may change these settings at any time.

- Check Permissions: Ensure that your videos are shared with the appropriate audience within Blackboard. Remember, if you are a course lead and will be sharing your videos with others you must have the permissions enabled for the video to be available publicly (or publicly but unlisted). You may also contact TILT to have a group created for your instructors).

How to add a Powerpoint to the Background of your Recording

This will show you how to both record a video of yourself while walking through a Powerpoint presentation. It will walk you through the steps of how to add the Powerpoint to the video background and how to change the settings within Powerpoint.

Downloading a Video in Panopto

This resource walks you through on the rare occasion where you would like to download a video to view offline or outside of Panopto.
