We've been busy!
Our engineering team went into June with one goal in mind: to improve your quality of life when using Scribe. We’ve launched small changes that massively impact your user experience. 💪
These new features include:
- Descriptions
- Dual monitor recording - Windows desktop app
- Double click to edit Pages
- Delete folders
- Languages in PDF export
- Sort by view count
- Safari sunset
- Toggle claps
Let's dive in, shall we?
Descriptions
First up, we rolled out Scribe descriptions.
You've always been able to add tips and annotations throughout your Scribes. Now, you can add descriptions to the top of your step-by-step guide to introduce readers to your process and help them better understand what each Scribe is about.
Descriptions are included in Markdown, HTML and PDF export — and completely searchable within Scribe.
Dual monitor recording - Windows desktop app
Next, we updated our Windows desktop app to let you record Scribes across multiple monitors.
Simplify even the most complicated process by recording your steps from one screen to the next. This update seamlessly captures your entire workflow — regardless of if you're on a Windows or Mac desktop app, or the Chrome or Edge extension.
Got two screens (or three? or seven?) Not a problem. Scribe works where you work.
Double click to edit Pages
This next update is pretty much the poster child for our June mantra: “quality of life improvement."
Since last month's Pages launch, we've gathered so much feedback on what you love and how we can make it even better. Now, when you’re viewing and want to make edits to a Page, all you have to do is double click. The Page will switch into Edit mode.
Yep, it's that easy. And any updates made to your Page will autosave, so you'll never have to panic if you accidentally close your browser.
Haven't checked out Pages yet? Create your first Page here.
Delete folders
We're all about making our processes even easier and faster than before. Now, you can delete any folders directly from the context menu.
Before this, you had to click into Edit Folder before you could click Delete. Turns out we could save you this click. So we moved this functionality up and made it so all you have to do is click once to keep your folders up to date.

Languages in PDF export
We get the chance to serve teams in over 70 countries. Because of our growing user base, we often hear requests to support more and more languages.
We’re so proud to announce that we now support several new languages in PDF export, including:
- Japanese
- Chinese
- Korean
- Greek
... and more!
Wanna try it out? Make any change within your Scribes and re-export your PDFs to see it in action.
Sort by view count
Next up, is our new view count sorting!
We've just rolled out the ability to view Scribes based on view count. This will help improve searchability across your entire workspace. Check out your best practices in seconds, and identify which Scribes have the greatest impact. It's also a chance to celebrate just how much your team is learning.
Click the filter icon on the right side of your Workspace to see all the ways you can filter Scribes and Pages.
- Alphabetically
- By recently created
- By recently edited
- and now view count!
Safari sunset
In June we discontinued our Safari extension. Let's talk a bit about why.
First and foremost, our user experience is everything to us. Due to limited Safari support, we couldn’t offer the same incredible experience as we do with our other extensions and desktop apps.
This was a tough call to make, but it really comes down to how much we prioritize having a tool that we and our users can be 110% proud of.
Please reach out to [email protected] if you have any questions about this!
Toggle claps
Can we get a round of applause for our engineering team? 👏 Because last but not least, we've added toggles to our Claps feature.
"Claps" are an easy way to recognize and thank someone for creating an awesome Scribe. We've had them since the beginning.
But, not every Scribe calls for a standing ovation. Sometimes you need something a little more structured or formal — or maybe your Scribes just aren't in the mood for applause.
So we've rolled out the Claps toggle. Simply turn it on or off as you see fit. All Scribes now default to not allowing Claps, but to turn Claps on simply go to your edit sidebar and turn on Claps.
That's all folks!
Alright, that’s a wrap for June's product updates. As always, if you have any feedback or more amazing ideas, please reach out to [email protected].
Until next month, happy Scribing!
